Hundreds still without power in Cleveland; city offers tips to help residents stay safe

Power is expected to be fully restored by the end of the day Friday.

The city of Cleveland says about 6,000 people lost power during Thursday night's snowstorm, with around 200 still without service as of Friday afternoon.

Officials expect power to be back on for everybody by the end of the day, and residents experiencing outages are asked to call Cleveland Public Power at (216) 664-3156. FirstEnergy customers are asked to call (888) 544-4877.

Crews are also working to remove several downed trees in the area. Those who see a downed tree can call (216) 664-3104.

Additionally, the city is asking residents to take the following safety precautions:

  • Take personal precautions and check on the vulnerable
  • Dress appropriately in the cold
  • Don't block intersections
  • Bring pets/companion animals inside
