Parma police investigating alleged threat made against school

The student suspect could face criminal charges.

Police in Parma are continuing to investigate an alleged threat that was made against a local grade school by one of its students.

Authorities at St. Columbkille Catholic School told police on Sunday they were worried of a possible school shooting, and investigators later found a picture of a gun on a student's Instagram account with a phrase referencing a shooting, although no specific school was mentioned.

Officials later went to the boy's home and spoke with him and his mother, who both cooperated. The student denied making any threat and claimed the picture was that of an airsoft gun.

Detectives are still investigating the case, and upon completion information will be presented to the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's Office for possible criminal charges in juvenile court.
