Detectives from the Lorain County Sheriff's Office are investigating the deaths of an elderly couple in Carlisle Township in what appears to be a murder/suicide.
Officials say 71-year-old Jeanne Johnson apparently was shot by her husband, 72-year-old Lawrence Johnson, who then shot himself. The couple were found by their adult son just after 10:00 a.m. on Friday morning in their home in the 39000 block of Chestnut Ridge Road.
At this time, there appears to be no known motive behind the shootings. Investigators believe that there was not any turmoil in the household. Lawrence Johnson had been recovering from a recent surgery, but there were no other known medical issues.
The Lorain County Coroner's Office will make the final determination on the couple's cause of death.
