President Trump is reportedly reconsidering the country's food stamp program.
In attempt to scale back the current food stamp system, Trump is aiming to replace them with a meal box delivery program, NBC News reports.
Mick Mulvaney, director to the Office of Management and Budget, told reporters about the plan Monday. The current system would be known as "America's Harvest Box" and more than 16 million households would be recipients. NBC News says half of the benefits received by participating households would go toward the program.
NBC News reports that Trump's proposal would reduce SNAP benefits by $17.2 billion next year. The U.S. Department of Agriculture claims the proposal would save $129.2 billion during the next decade.
