On the heels of Red Gerard winning gold in PyeongChang, another Rocky River native have Olympic aspirations for 2020.
David Hein, 21, will look to qualify for the Tokyo Summer Games in mixed multihull sailing.
Hein and his crew mate, Arielle Darrow, first teamed up during the 2016 Olympic Trials. The duo's chemistry and results have improved drastically over the last two years, including a 4th-place finish during the St. Barth Cata-Cup last fall.
"I'm surprised but also happy with how far that we've come," Hein said. "It's a different feeling to know that you finally found someone that you can work with you the water."
In addition to competing in world-class events, Hein also coaches sailing and competes on the Jacksonville University sailing team.
