Born in Akron, Amani Abraham has always held a connection to her hometown and the community. Joining WKYC in 2016 allowed her to continue to share her love for storytelling within the community where she was raised.
Amani is the former morning news anchor for 94.9 WQMX after she began her career at Rubber City Radio in 2011. She graduated from the University of Akron with a dual degree in News and Radio/TV Broadcasting. She fell in love with radio and television broadcasting while working as an on-air personality, editor and television host at WZIP-FM and Z-TV.
In 2011, Amani was named a Woman To Watch by the Women's History Project in Akron. She was recognized for her work in journalism, receiving the first place award for Best Reporter by the Ohio Associated Press Media Editors Association in 2013 and by the Society of Professional Journalism in 2016.
