CLEVELAND — January Keaton is a Lorain native and Kent State University graduate who has worked for more than 15 years in various news markets, beginning behind-the-scenes as a producer right here in Northeast Ohio at both WOIO and later for WEWS' morning broadcast.
January has also traveled the country as part of the touring cast of an acclaimed musical before eventually returning to her news roots in 2011 as an Anchor/MMJ for WTEN in Albany, New York.
From Albany to Cape Coral, Florida, as a Traffic Anchor, and from the Sunshine State to anchoring evening newscasts in Macon, Georgia, and most recently, working in the Atlanta market, January brings her infectious energy and genuine passion for reporting and storytelling to her beloved hometown.
January is mom to Dixie Devereaux Keaton -- the coolest 7-month-old on earth -- whose name was inspired by January’s two favorite sitcoms, Designing Women and The Golden Girls. January has a 14-year-old wolf-mix named Harleigh and a 2-year-old black indoor/outdoor “killer cat” named Puma, who is a whiz at catching anything crawling. January is a self-proclaimed “bootleg chef” who can cook ANYTHING, and is also the first female news anchor in history to broadcast in dreadlocks.
January recently told us, "What I love most about working in media is the power to affect change, pull together a community or save a life. I like to engage the viewing audience through fresh perspectives and a little humor here and there."
