CLEVELAND — Payton Domschke joined the 3News weather team in December 2021. After spending the past two years on the East Coast with our sister station WVEC - 13News Now, Payton is thrilled to return to her beloved Midwest. She was born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois, and she is named after famous Chicago Bears running back Walter Payton. Payton is the oldest of three and loves spending time with her family whenever she gets a chance.
Payton attended Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, where she completed her bachelor’s degree in Meteorology and Climatology in 3.5 years (#ChirpChirp). Upon Payton's graduation in December of 2019, she also worked full-time at WPTA-TV's ABC21 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, as their Weekend Evening Meteorologist for six months. Following the completion of her degree, Payton made the trek out to Norfolk, Virginia, to join the 13News Now weather team as their Weekend Morning Meteorologist. During her time in the Hampton Roads area, Payton forecasted a couple of potent hurricane seasons -- including the movement of Tropical Storm Isaias, which produced a handful of short-lived tornadoes throughout NE North Carolina and SE Virginia.
Aside from forecasting various weather patterns, Payton's a lover of all things country music. Some of her favorite artists are Rascal Flatts, Dan+Shay, Jason Aldean and Mitchell Tenpenny. Back home with her family, she has a four-pound Yorkie named Rascal (named after Rascal Flatts of course). Also, Payton has been vegan for the past four years.
Some of Payton’s other passions include health and fitness, photography, and so much more. She can’t wait to get to know NE Ohio!
