Cleveland has become a popular choice to serve as the host city for major events across sports, entertainment and politics.

CLEVELAND — When a brand new Cleveland resident touched down in the Hardland on Sunday, they took to reddit to ask for advice from locals, and were greeted with a warm welcome.

In a post titled, “Friday day in Cleveland,” Reddit user aerospace_94 wrote: “As my title states, today is the first day of moving here. I just got off the plane from DFW [Dallas-Ft. Worth] to CLE and into my apartment. Just felt like sharing. Thank you for reading!”

The user, who works in aviation (but not for NASA), responded to question about where they are currently staying, writing: “Right now, I've been placed in an apartment in Willoughby but will hope to relocate somewhere closer around Richmond heights or Beachwood; somewhere in that vicinity would be more convenient for me.”

The comments poured in, offering everything from personal tours of the west side of the Land to positive thoughts about how much better the traffic is around here than it is in other places in the United States (particularly in Dallas, where the newcomer just arrived from).

“If if you're used to Dallas traffic you're going to think you've died and gone to heaven. Well, except for the snow,” user Alphabet_Hotel wrote.

In an especially detailed post, user xHourglassx shared insight into craft beer breweries and where to get the best Eastern European food.

For example, in Ohio City alone, xHourglassx shared our new addition could fill up 4-6 stamps on the city of Cleveland’s brewery “passport,” “without ever having to repark or Uber.”

And for snacks, xHourglassx shared: “Many [breweries] have good food, too, particularly Market Garden, Saucy Brew Works, and Hansa Haus Brewery.”

As far as good eating goes, the post read: “ Hansa is pretty darn good (German with some Slavic influence)... Sokolowski's is a local treasure (Polish), and pretty famous for its quality. Balaton is very solid Hungarian food. I could go on and on, but Google can provide more info than I can.”

For entertainment, the poster pointed out that Cleveland’s “Orchestra and Theatre scene is considered second only to New York (at about 1/3 the cost).”

Aerospace_94 had their first meal in the Land from Happy Dog, and expressed thanks for all of the tips.

User coffeehousebrat offered a kind, Midwest reception, writing: “Welcome to CLE. The weather is cold but our hearts are warm! [heart emoji].”
