The Burger Shop opens inside Ohio City Galley

The Galley's newest tenant is serving up elevated burgers and waffle fries.

CLEVELAND — The Ohio City Galley received a new look over the holidays with an updated interior and new food concepts.

Earlier this year, Pie2 and Grains and Greens moved in to replace former tenants Poca and Rice Shop Cleveland. Tinman, which served melty burgers and piles of onion straws, also announced its departure, much to the dismay of its fans.

While Tinman will carry on inside Eugene Kitchen at Lakewood's Bottlehouse Brewery, according to Cleveland Scene and 3News correspondent Doug Trattner, a new burger spot aims to fill the void inside the Galley.

The Burger Shop, launched by Sauce the City's Victor Searcy, is now open to diners seeking an elevated burger experience. The pop-up serves steakburger sliders made from high-end cuts of beef, local cheese and a special Cleveland Hot Seasoning spice blend.

“We wanted to experience providing Cleveland with another great culinary experience. Burgers were our initial concept when joining the Galley,” Searcy said in a news release issued Thursday. “We kind of stumbled upon the hot chicken concept with Sauce The City. In having the initial goal of providing Cleveland with exceptional steak sliders, we blew off the dust from our initial planning menus and recreated The Burger Shop."

Menu options include The Classic (lettuce, tomato, onions with American cheese), The Smokehouse BBQ (smoked brown BBQ sauce, crispy onion rings and cheddar cheese) or Spiced Portobello (Gouda and pepper jack cheese, sautéed onions and mushroom topped with hot sauce). Vegetarian options are also available and waffle fries are the main side.

Sauce the City is the lone remaining original tenant inside the Galley, which opened in the former Massimo Da Milano in October 2018. Searcy's popular chicken sandwiches and word-of-mouth recommendations among fans have elevated Sauce The City to a must-try among Cleveland's culinary scene.
