3 Things Poppin' in Northeast Ohio: Take to the Lake, Mutt Strutt, Garlic Festival

Get out and explore all that Northeast Ohio has to offer this weekend!

CLEVELAND — Have you lived in Northeast Ohio forever, or maybe you're new to the area? Whatever your story, the region has tons to offer when it comes to experiences and adventures.

However, at times it can be hard to find and narrow down the best ways to spend your time. That's where I come in.

Normally, I keep you up to date on the latest pop culture stories every day in "Pop Break" on "What's New" at 5 p.m. But now, with this new segment "3 Things Poppin' in Northeast Ohio," I'll be sharing with you my picks for trendy things to do on the weekends!

Take to the Lake

On Saturday from 10 a.m.-4p.m., the Doan Brook Watershed Partnership is hosting its 10th annual Take to the Lake. All afternoon guests can enjoy paddling, guided hikes, yoga, and live music along the banks of historic Lower Shaker Lake.

The event is open to all, and lifejackets are mandatory. Registration starts at $5 for kids and $10 for adults.

Mutt Strut

Up next, grab your family and friends — including your furry ones — for the 28th annual mutt strut put on by the Lake Humane Society.

From 10 a.m.-2 p-m, participants can enjoys a dog games and contests, raffles, a runway show of adoptable dogs and so much more. The event is free and open to the public.

Garlic Festival

Finally, if you're looking for a stinking good time, the annual Garlic Festival is returning to Shaker Square this weekend.

On Saturday from noon-8 p.m. and Sunday from noon-6 p.m., guests can enjoy fun for the whole family, including gourmet garlic dishes, live music, art and a kids zone, and more.

The festival helps to raise money for the North Union Famer’s Market. Tickets start at $5 for kids and $9 for adults.
