8th Annual Running with a Mission benefits women's crisis center, Laura's Home

More than 1,600 participants gathered in the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo for a worthy cause, helping women and children each year.

CLEVELAND — The 8th Annual Running with a Mission brought a record number of participants to the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo Saturday.

More than 1,600 runners and walkers came together for a kids' race, 5K and 1-mile walk for an excellent cause in Laura's Home, of The City Mission.

Laura's Home is a women's crisis center, which helps hundreds of women and children every year to get food, shelter, and a fresh start.

The event presented by the Sherwin-Williams Women's Club, also featured, games, live music, and face painting for kids.

Channel 3's own Maureen Kyle was today's emcee.
