INDEPENDENCE, Ohio — It's been a long time coming, but Topgolf is finally open in Northeast Ohio.
The Cleveland area location officially debuted off Interstate 480 in Independence Friday at 9 a.m.
The project has been in the works for nearly two years near the Embassy Suites on Rockside Woods Boulevard. The new entertainment hub is bringing about 500 jobs to the city and will infuse the local economy with an estimated $264.5 million over a 10-year period. It also means more local income taxes for Independence.
Topgolf features golf games using microchipped balls that instantly score themselves, showing players the accuracy and distance of their shots on a TV screen in a hitting bay. Hitting bays are climate controlled, meaning the Northeast Ohio snow won't stop guests from enjoying themselves year-round.
The venues also feature food, bars, TVs and music for additional entertainment. Private spaces and rooms can be rented for events and a rooftop terrace features a fire pit. Each Topgolf site also features an executive chef creating a full menu, from weekend brunch to flatbreads, burgers and donut holes.
Guests can also book lessons to improve their swing, or those looking for social opportunities can join competitive Topgolf leagues for every skill level.
Topgolf's other Ohio locations are in Cincinnati and Columbus. The brand has more than 60 sites across the U.S. and U.K.
