Aut-O-Rama Drive-In keeps summer movie nostalgia alive in North Ridgeville

There are less than 300 drive-in movie theaters left in the United States.

NORTH RIDGEVILLE, Ohio -- It's pure nostalgia: Sitting under the stars and soaking in a late-night double feature at the drive-in theater.

It's a tradition Aut-O-Rama has been keeping since the mid 1960s.

The same family that started it then still runs it now.

"We've done a pretty good job keeping it going," owner Deb Sherman said.

Still going strong despite there only being 300 drive-ins like it left in the entire country. Sherman quickly saw this once normal sight quickly turn into a novelty.

"I remember still the first time I realized we were a tourist attraction. People parked by the marque taking pictures! I was just like a shock to me. I didn’t realize how much it meant to other people.”

It means a lot to people like the Johnson family who went there to enjoy the Incredibles 2.

Trevor Johnson has memories going to the drive-in when he was a kid.

"I remember swinging and watching ET in 1984."

Now he's passing that tradition on with his family.

"Stuff you remember forever. Hopefully they do, too."

It's people like the Johnsons that have become like family to Deb.

“You see the same people every week," Sherman said. "I'm seeing people grow up and have kids of their own. It’s just very special to me and I cant imagine not doing it.”

A unique and memorable movie experience that's just a quick drive away.
