CHARDON, Ohio -- The macabre masterminds of Midnight Syndicate are at it again…

Known for their terrifying tunes, Edward Douglas and Gavin Goszka -- the dastardly duo behind Chardon-based Midnight Syndicate -- are working on their 19th studio album.

The creepy composers have teamed with Twilight Creations to produce a “dark instrumental album” that’s different than anything they’ve ever created.

Blending fresh music with previously recorded material, Douglas and Goszka are piecing together a sinister soundtrack used to heighten the experience while playing the popular Zombies!!! board game.

The musical theme will center around the board game and its 15 expansion sets that pay homage to classic zombie films, especially those of famed directors George Romero and Sam Raimi.

"With the game celebrating its 15th anniversary in 2016, it seemed like the perfect time to undertake this project,” Douglas says. “We're working closely with the Twilight team to create something that really enhances their players' gaming experience. I think album will also resonate with our fans in the Halloween and haunted house industries."

The board game soundtrack is tentatively scheduled for release this September in conjunction with the release of Zombies!!! Ultimate Collector Set and Zombies!!! Ultimate Upgrade Kit.

"Musically, it will be interesting to work in a modern setting," Goszka says. "Most of our albums have been set in the Victorian and early 20th century, so this will definitely be something different and exciting for us and our fans."

Last September, Midnight Syndicate scared up holiday screams with Christmas: A Ghostly Gathering -- a CD release entirely dedicated to cranking up the Christmas creep factor.

First founded in 1997, Midnight Syndicate’s work has gained international attention. Their music echoes throughout haunted attractions, theme parks, TV shows, video games, movies and more.

"Our discs generally tend to be Halloween-themed, very horror-themed, because that's what we love," Douglas explains. "It makes great atmosphere for Halloween, haunted houses and people who like to decorate for Halloween."

A few years back, AOL ranked the top 10 Halloween CDs -- and Midnight Syndicate claimed three of the those spots (third, fourth and eighth).

In 2014, Midnight Syndicate collaborated with Cedar Point for a fright-filled live HalloWeekends stage show.
