Cedar Point offers sneak peek of new French Quarter Confections

There's a new home for sweets at Cedar Point.

SANDUSKY, Ohio — The next time you enter Cedar Point, you're going to notice a big change just a few steps inside the park's main gate.

The Bayou Refreshments eatery located at the front of the park has been transformed into the French Quarter Confections.

It's here you can grab sweet treats like giant funnel cakes, mini funnel cakes, waffles, waffles on a stick, cotton candy and fresh-made fudge. This spot, which was previously a walk-up location, now offers indoor waiting and service.

Cedar Point has more pictures of French Quarter Confections HERE -- including a glimpse at what's inside. Here's a first look at the renovated location:

French Quarter Confections is just one of several new food locations coming to Cedar Point. Other changes include:

  • The Corral: Step inside for a cheese-on-a-stick, hot-dog-on-a-stick, hand-breaded chicken tenders and pizza.
  • The C.P. Juice Co.: Serving vintage fruit-shaped juice containers.
  • Mac Shack: A new restaurant with a variety of macaroni and cheese. This will be located near Toft's Ice Cream Parlor in the location formerly held by Pink's hot dogs.
  • The Roost: A new fried chicken restaurant that also serves tater tots and slaw. This will be located where Mr. Potato used to be near Wicked Twister.

Although Cedar Point was originally slated to open for the 2020 season on May 9, the park remains closed until further notice amid coronavirus concerns. Gov. Mike DeWine said on May 24 that "we're certainly not there yet" when it comes to Cedar Point being able to reopen.

While Cedar Point officials say they are still aiming to reopen at some point this year, the park has postponed all of their 150th anniversary season festivities and attractions until 2021.
