Truss Cleveland hosts inaugural Kandy Kane Ball for toy donations ahead of distribution event in Ohio City: First Look

The new event space in Ohio City has plans to make its holiday ball an annual ritual to give back to the Ohio City community.

OHIO CITY, Ohio — The newest event space in Ohio City is making its mark on West 25th Street by hosting the charity party of the season, gathering toy donations for children in the community.

It's called the Kandy Kane Ball, and it's being held Friday night at Truss Event Venue, which is owned by Truss Cleveland.

The festive get-together for a good cause is also being produced in collaboration with Harbor Bay Ventures, and those attending will be treated to a gorgeous space completely decked out in holiday décor.

The Kandy Kane Ball has been held at Joe's in Chicago over the past two decades and is coming to Cleveland to first time, according to INTRO Cleveland's Jeanine Davy.

"'Candyland' is this year’s theme and we're decking the halls with whimsical décor galore, a scrumptious candy bar by BA Sweeties, and plenty of photo opps including a live photobooth by SugarBooth," Davy said.

Guests tonight will enjoy an open bar including signature cocktails by Tito's, beer by Great Lakes, and hors d'ouevres by Truss.

A live band and DJ will entertain the crowd, who are welcome to take home a sweet treat with cupcakes by Wild Flour Bakery, so long as they arrive with a new, unwrapped toy.

That's because according to Davy, and Truss Cleveland's Director of Events, Sales and Creation Vince Iannaggi, the real party is tomorrow, Saturday, December 10.

"While the theme changes year to year, the mission remains the same: to get toys into the hands of as many underprivileged kids as possible," Iannaggi said. "All guests of the party are asked to bring a toy to donate. After the event, while you're dreaming of dancing sugar plums, sleepless elves will be busy making sure all toys get distributed the next morning at St. Malachi during a pizza party with Santa."

The distribution party already has about 150 children designated to attend and take home presents that were donated from the party, ensuring that each child has something new of their own to enjoy this holiday season.

Truss Cleveland and its rooftop bar opened for events in the spring, and they're looking forward next to hosting a glamorous, circus-themed New Year's Eve party.
