NEW YORK -- The drama between President Trump and LeBron James has hit late-night TV.
Jimmy Fallon transformed himself for an imitation of President Trump during a comedy sketch on Tuesday’s Tonight Show on NBC.
“Welcome to the Trump News Network," Fallon said at the start of the bit. "The only news network dedicated to professionalism, integrity and level-headed journalism, which brings us to tonight’s top story: LeBron James is a big, stupid idiot and I hate him. I tweeted about him this weekend and now everyone’s rushing to LeBron’s defense because he’s – quote -- a great basketball player who -- quote -- builds schools for children and – quote -- isn’t under investigation for treason.”
This comes just days after President Trump controversially tweeted Friday suggesting that James isn’t smart: “Lebron James was just interviewed by the dumbest man on television, Don Lemon. He made Lebron look smart, which isn’t easy to do. I like Mike!”
Fallon continued…
“Whatever. He’s a good basketball player. If he’s a good one, then I’m a good basketball player, too. I mean, I’m good at dribbling. I’m great at free throws and blocking. I’m very good at blocking. I’m very good at that. Now everyone thinks I’m crazy for attacking LeBron, but it’s actually a genius move, folks. Midterms are coming and Ohio is a swing state. We need Ohio. And guess who hates LeBron more than anyone right now? That’s right, the Ohionese. Which is why I’m announcing that the new national thing is the buckeye. I don’t know what it is. Is it a nut? Is it a fruit? It looks like a candy bar.”
Cleveland even got a shout out.
“Also, my running mate in 2020 will be the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Sorry, Mike Pence.”
