It won numerous Tony awards – including Best Musical! – and now it’s on stage at Playhouse Square! We’re talking, of course, about “The Band’s Visit.” We were excited to have the stars with us in studio today - Sasson Gabay and Chilina Kennedy!
Here are the questions Michael and Hollie asked:
The story in “The Band’s Visit” is one we haven’t seen on stage before. For those who aren’t familiar with it, tell us what the play is about.
Your characters are very different from each other. How would you describe them? And what makes them connect with each other?
This is not your “typical” musical – no big fancy production numbers, it’s a smaller cast – but music is so important to it. Can you talk a bit about that?
While yours is the main story, there are other smaller stories occurring at the same time. What do you think they teach us? What do you hope the audience walks away thinking and feeling?
