Dr. Robert Needlman & Robert Paponetti - Reach Out And Read & The Literacy Cooperative Are Teaming Up To Help Put Books In Hospitals And In The Hands Of Children

Many medical institutions are putting books in their facilities and in return are helping children get ready for preschool and kindergarten.

The first few years of a child's life is the best time to influence their future. And co-founder of Reach Out and Read Doctor Robert Needlman and President and C-E-O of The Literacy Cooperative Robert Paponetti sat down with Tiffany and told us more.

Below were the questions Tiffany asked Dr. Robert Needlman & Robert Paponetti:

Tell me about a child’s development in the first 3 years of life…especially in the brain of a young child

How does reading aloud affect a child’s brain development?

How are we doing in northeast Ohio relative to helping our children be prepared for school?

Tell me about your organization, Reach Out and Read.

How is The Literacy Cooperative and Reach Out and Read working together?

I can see the benefit to the parent and child. Is there a benefit to the medical provider?

In today’s world there is technology all around us that read to children or tell them stories. What do you think of these?

Today is a special Day, Read Across America Day, and it also kicks off National Reading Month. Are there any efforts underway today or in the month?
