Local couple with cerebral palsy ties the knot

In the end, love trumps disabilities and even red tape.

Westlake — When most of the world said they couldn’t, Annmarie Gilmore and Tyrone Peacock said, “Yes we can”.

On Saturday, they will tie the knot after being in love for 11 years.

And love, in the end, trumps disabilities and even red tape. It turns out you don’t need muscles that work correctly, or even eyes that see, to love so purely from the heart.

Spend 5 minutes with the bride and groom to be and you will see it with your own eyes.

The first time Tyrone met Annmarie, he thought, "She was very cute!"

Annmarrie couldn’t see him with her eyes, but after 11 years in love with Tyrone, she sees him in the most beautiful, purest way...with her heart..

"I love this man so much. I would do anything for him," says the blushing bride-to-be.

Tyrone comes back with, "She helps me a lot." And the compliments keep coming when Annmarie says, "He makes me laugh."

That’s why in May 2015, Tyrone asked the love of his life to be his wife.

"That was an amazing day," Annmarrie smiles.

Even though as a married couple they would lose some of their individual disability benefits, these love birds were determined to step out on faith.

"We decided to GO FOR IT!" Tyrone says.

"It’s been 3 years in the making,” Annmarie points out.

At the time of their interview, Tyrone and Annmarie were hours away from that magical day when they would finally say I do.

And love WINS.

"He's my husband and I want to cherish it," Annmarie says with an unmistakable sincerity.

"She really is good spirit. And that’s not just because she is going to be my wife, but she's just a beautiful person," Tyrone says of the woman he will pledge to spend the rest of his life with.

"Isn't God great?" AnnMarie smiles.

“Just because I'm blind and crippled, Tyrone just sees me as me."

And THAT is phenomenally beautiful.

Tyrone and Annmarie get it. Maybe we should all take a page from their book.
