CLEVELAND — We've all had this happen before: You're trying to make plans with friends or family from here or afar, and you're stumped on what to do. We've got the perfect solution: It's called The Cleveland Bucket List.
"I realized that there was no one really showcasing what it was like to go out around Cleveland and be a part of all of that," says founder of The Cleveland Bucket List website, Haley Mills.
Mills grew up in Cleveland, moved away for college, then came back to Northeast Ohio with a new perspective, and a new idea.
It started with Mills posting pictures to Instagram, and quickly morphed into something bigger.
"One day, I just decided that there was no cost of posting [on social media], so why not start it myself and kind of see what I could do with it," Mills said.
It's website where folks could go to find stuff to do – places to go and things to see, all right in our own backyards. That includes special events, locations to explore and restaurants, just to name a few.
“The Bucket List is really honestly geared towards locals and people that are coming to visit, because there's gonna be plenty of those things that you have to see in Cleveland. But there's also a lot of stuff that you're not gonna know about."
There’s even a section of stuff to do right now, during the holiday season, from indoor activities where kids and adults alike can treat cabin fever, to a list of New Year’s Eve events – and even holiday-themed pop up bars.
Enter Around the Corner in Lakewood, where they have the Christmas Corner Bar. It's on the list of holiday pop-up bars in Cleveland.
When you walk in, Christmas smacks you in the face! If you aren't in the Christmas spirit when you walk in, you might want to see a doctor. And the best part is, they add more decor every year.
"They have some specialty cocktails, including some Christmas theme martinis, which are delicious," said Mills. "There's Christmas karaoke. So you can pick whatever song you wanna listen to. They do Christmas name trivia as well. So it's always just gonna be super bright in the holiday."
Bartender Yiana Tjotjos is serving up a multitude of holiday beverages sure to warm you up with the spirits of the season.
"We have like our naughty and nice shots," Tjotjos said. "So you can order one or the other, get a surprise even. And then our most famous would probably be the dirty Grinch. It's like kind of, um, like a girl scout, mint, chocolate chip cookie."
The Christmas Corner is *the* place to celebrate…and check off the bucket list.
