Newburgh Heights police help rescue macaw

NEWBURGH HEIGHTS, Ohio — The Newburgh Heights Police Department can add bird rescue to their list of duties after working to retrieve a macaw that went loose on Wednesday afternoon.

“Not something you deal with every day in Newburgh, but we have a blue and gold macaw on the loose,” the department posted on their Facebook page. “Please contact NHPD if you see this guy. He is super friendly and his family really misses him.”

A few hours later, the department shared an update that declared Oxy the macaw had been rescued.

“Thanks to everyone for their hard work,” the department posted on their Facebook page.

Police did not release any additional details about the situation.
