Summit County Animal Control expands hours

Beginning April 8, pets will be microchipped at the shelter.

AKRON, Ohio — Summit County Animal Control will offer expanded evening and weekend hours beginning April 8, 2023. The expanded hours will allow more time for visitors to adopt or claim their missing pets.

Here are their hours:

  • Monday - Friday: 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.
  • Saturday: 12 p.m. until 3 p.m.
  • Sunday: 1 p.m. until 3 p.m.

Adoptable shelter pets will also be microchipped. The microchip will automatically be registered with 24 Petwatch. Adoption fees will not increase, remaining at $94 for a dog and $60 for a cat.

Summit County Animal Control continues to welcome volunteers. Anyone interested in volunteering at the shelter can apply HERE.

Appointments are not necessary to visit the shelter, but highly encouraged.  To schedule an appointment, please call 330-643-2845. 

The shelter is located at 250 Opportunity Parkway in Akron.
