Adopt a dog or cat at Summit County Animal Control for a reduced fee

Adoption fees will be lowered between July 19 and July 31, 2021.

In the market for a new furry friend? Now's the time to adopt.

Beginning Monday, July 19 2021, Summit County Animal Control will reduce its adoption fees to $28 for anyone interested in adopting a dog or $10 to adopt a cat from their shelter. That's down from $94 for dogs, and $60 for cats.

The dogs and cats in the shelter will be fully vetted, which includes blood work, flea treatments, intestinal de-worming, spay/neuter and vaccinations before the pets go to their new homes.

Potential adopters must make an appointment to visit the shelter by calling 330-643-2845. The shelter is located at 250 Opportunity Parkway in Akron.

Folks who adopt a dog will also receive a 2021 Summit County dog license which is included in the adoption fee.

The fee reduction lasts through July 31, 2021.
