The spook behind spiders: Geauga County native, Coyote Peterson explains why there's no need to be afraid

The Ohio native says the reason so many people are afraid of creatures like spiders is because we don’t know enough about them

GEAUGA COUNTY, Ohio — Around this time of year we see spiders everywhere, and not just the real things, but fake ones too.

Spiders and many other creepy crawly creatures are associated with Halloween.

Coyote Peterson, the creator of Brave Wilderness on YouTube and the host of Brave the Wild on Animal Plant, says Halloween is a perfect time to put these creatures in the spotlight and give them attention they deserve.

The Ohio native says the reason so many people are afraid of creatures like spiders is because we don’t know enough about them. Peterson added that these creatures are really good for our planet. They help to balance out pest species that we really do not want to interact with.

“While they may be alien and bizarre looking which adds to the creepy factor, it’s the mysterious of these animals that lends to our own imaginations running wild when we start thinking about the bad things if we interact with them," Peterson explained.

Peterson is teaching free virtual classes for kids on Varsity Tutors so they can learn about these animals. Through the classes, students will learn how the animals develop camouflage, defend themselves, and how to appreciate them safely without being afraid.
