InCuya Music Festival to be put on hold after first year

InCuya is being put on hold.

CLEVELAND -- It was supposed to become Cleveland's nationally-known music festival along the likes of Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza.

Instead, organizers are pulling the plug on InCuya after its first year.

The announcement was made by Cleveland Concert Company Friday morning, citing plans to reevaluate the festival's future. The festival's organizers canceled its contract with AEG Presents, who produced the event.

"The timing of a restructuring at AEG Presents and evaluation of the overall business case contributed to the decision to hold off on staging the 2019 music and cultural festival," a news release issued Friday said.

The event took place downtown on Cleveland's malls in August and featured a diverse lineup, including headliners New Order, SZA and the Avett Brothers.

“While the inaugural event showed a lot of potential, our team felt that the timing to proceed with the event in 2019 would be challenging," said Sunny Nixon, board chair to Cleveland Concert Company. "Building on what we learned, we’re open to considering potential options for the future."
