Making Mother's Day joyful: Mom Squad with 3News' Maureen Kyle

Master-board certified life coach, Hannah Keeley talks about how to lower expectations, but at the same time celebrate your value on this Mother's Day.

CLEVELAND — Mother's Day is this Sunday and we've already talked about the top coveted gifts or the best ways to spoil mom. But sometimes the reality of Mother’s Day doesn't always live up to the hype, like any holiday.

In today's Mom Squad, we talked with nationally renowned life coach and mom expert, Hannah Keeley, who says stop going into the day thinking everything will be perfect.

“When we release expectations of how someone should treat us, how our children should behave, how our spouse should treat us, whatever,” explains Keeley. “That is when we release expectations what we're actually doing is we're taking on the responsibility of making this day joyful. And that starts inside. Like, it doesn't matter if the kids are perfect, it doesn't matter if brunch turns out exquisite. If internally we have this expectation that, 'I'm not enough, I should I deserve more,' then that's not going to go well.”

Keeley says the best gift you can give yourself is joy. And she reiterates, that starts within.
