3News Special Contributor Emily Mayfield visits two restaurants where its easy to support local, stay safe and still eat healthy.

CLEVELAND — Whether you're too busy to cook, or just want to support local restaurants, many of us have been ordering takeout a little more frequently these days. But letting someone else do the cooking can sometimes mean indulging a bit more than you want to.

So, 3News Special Correspondent Emily Mayfield visited two local restaurants where you can find plenty of healthy options and feel good about ordering in.

1st stop: Cleveland Vegan in Lakewood

Address: 17112 Detroit Ave, Lakewood, OH 44107

Info: Founded in 2012, Cleveland Vegan began its operation as solely a catering company. Laura Ross & Justin Gorski, founders of Cleveland Vegan never imagined their little catering company to grow into what is today - they've since added a restaurant, cafe and full service bakery.

What they offer: Organic & locally sourced all-vegan brunch, dinner, catering, and bakery menus.

2nd stop: Café Avalaun in Warrensville Heights

Address: 4640 Richmond Rd STE 200, Cleveland, OH 44128

Info: 100% gluten free cafe, bakery and crêpeerie, specializing in organic local food, great coffee, crêpes  and pastries.

What they offer: Café Avalaun’s focus is on simple preparation from fresh, locally-sourced ingredients. Served up in a casual, family friendly environment, their menu includes delicious house-made, gluten free bakery items, crêpes, hot and cold breakfast items, fresh salads, daily soups, paninis, and more. They also offer catering.

As Emily puts it - remember to support local this holiday season. Our restaurants need us and takeout is a great option. If you're looking for a healthy option, please consider both of these great spots!
