GetGo donates Girl Scout cookies to deserving Northeast Ohio teachers

On Saturday, more than 400 teachers will be given free boxes of Girl Scout Cookies as a way to say “Thank you."

CLEVELAND — GetGo is giving Northeast Ohio teachers a much deserved treat to celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week.

On Saturday more than 400 teachers will be given free boxes of Girl Scout Cookies as a way to say “Thank you." These teachers, who work in low-income school districts, have been forced to teach remotely since the coronavirus pandemic began.

GetGo bought 5,000 boxes of unsold cookies to donate to the teachers.  At the same time, this donation to the teachers will also give a financial boost to the Girl Scouts of Northeast Ohio. The $25,000 purchased in cookies would have gone unsold because GSNEO’s cookie booth season was cut short due to COVID-19.

“We are beyond grateful for Giant Eagle’s partnership now and throughout the years,” said GSNEO CEO Jane Christyson. “We always say Girl Scout Cookies not only taste good – they do good, and what better way for a company to show their community support than to invest in girls’ futures and to recognize our educators at the same time.”

GetGo is also partnering with Shoes and Clothes for Kids who will arrange for teacher to pick up their sweet treats.
