CLEVELAND — It’s time for your mid-week dose of nothing but good news, so get ready for a brighter day.

In this week's edition of "It's All Good (News!) With Stephanie Haney," we tell you several stories that will lift your mood and make you smile.

First up, the story of a Willoughby man who loves nothing more than to go fishing. Dargan Bristow has autism. He loves to spend his days fishing, and fly fishing for steelhead. But recently, he left his equipment unattended for just a minute or two, and someone stole it – all of it. That includes his great-grandfather and grandfather’s equipment that had been given to him. But when the fishing community caught wind of what had happened, they cast a wide net (get it??) and came together to replace Dargan’s equipment. Watch the episode to see his reaction.

Then, his future fiancée is in for the surprise of a lifetime. We’ll introduce you to the man who’s mining all the materials for his future wife’s engagement ring – he already has the gold, and recently, he mined a two-carat yellow diamond. He plans to put those materials, along with opals he will mine next, together into an engagement ring he designs himself.

Next up, a daredevil got the ride of her life, after a motorcycle group came together to treat a woman named Barbie to a day on the road. Barbie has Alzheimer’s, and riding motorcycles helps bring some of her happiest memories back so that she can remember and enjoy them.

And recently, scientists announced they’d identified a species of giant tortoise thought to have been extinct for about a century, living in the Galapagos Islands. They’re planning another mission there soon to see if there are any tortoises of the same kind hiding there as well.

Finally, a pup-date, of sorts, as we update you on the endangered Red Wolf pups that were recently born at the Akron Zoo. We’re happy to report that the pups that had been taken to a foster program in another state are thriving, and the pups that stayed behind at the Akron Zoo are also doing very well.
