Bored? What's that? Parents share fun things to do with kids while Ohio schools are closed

How about faking a summer beach vacation or indoor hopscotch? Here are some creative ways to have fun while your kids are cooped up at home.

CLEVELAND — Well parents, we’re into week two of home isolation with our kiddos.

Our days now consist of a lot of homework ever since schools closed in Ohio. But in addition to wearing our teacher hats, we’ve also had to think outside the box to keep our youngsters entertained!

So, we asked parents to send in their most creative, social-distancing activities.

The results were awesome!

Some parents are letting their kids try outdoor activities while inside like kayaking with no water, taping hopscotch to the floor or hauling the water table into the shower.

You can see some of their photos below:

We even saw a bounce house party in a garage!

Some parents went old school with board games, and others got imaginative: Taking a pretend trip to Florida.

It's always a fun idea to get the kids involved in chores and daily duties. A lot of parents sent pics of their children helping them out in the kitchen.

Then, there are other activities that are more significant in these unprecedented times. Rocky River mom, Christina Mueller, first saw a picture in the Facebook group, Camp Quarantine, of a fence decorated with painter's tape and paint in the shape of a rectangle.

"I loved it but I don’t have a fence. We also had rain coming so, I thought, 'I have a big front window!' I figured a heart would be a great symbol for all that we are dealing with, and it will be nice for neighbors walking by to see the art."

Then, she posted it on social media with the message, "Spread love, not a virus."

Since then, the idea has taken off across the country with parents.

"It was a great project as a mom and a big win for me because (the kids) had something fun to do. And, they couldn't believe I was letting them paint the windows!"

Mueller says the response from other parents has been rewarding.

"It's taken on a life of its own: Spreading love, spreading happiness in our community, in our neighborhood, in a time when we really need it," Mueller says.

Have any pictures of your safe, family fun? We want to see them! You can text your pics to us at 216-344-3300. Or, you can always send them to us on Facebook or Twitter.
