Former Rock Hall and Marvel president remembers Stan Lee

The death of superhero legend, Stan Lee has been felt by those young and old.

CLEVELAND – The death of superhero legend, Stan Lee has been felt by those young and old. The 95 year old was the co creator of some of the biggest names in comics and movies, such as Spider-Man, the Hulk and the X-Men.

As many in the comics industry mourn the passing of this icon, so does former Rock Hall president, Terry Stewart, who also happened to be a former Marvel president in the 1990s.

“He was the essence of Marvel. He was Marvel,” said Stewart, who now is the Chairman and CEO of El Dorado Festivals and Events. Stewart says he had the pleasure of knowing Lee on a professional and personal basis and remembers him as, “a cultural icon.”

Stewart continued, “If you met him and you weren’t a Marvel fan, you’d know he was a special kind of person. He was the youngest 95 year old or 85 year old or when I knew him in his 70s, that you ever met. He just exuded this creativity, this humor, which is what in one way set Marvel apart.”

“I’m just thrilled that he lived long enough to see his legacy be fulfilled and the import that it created in the movies and toys and just the culture that surrounds it,” says Stewart. “He was one of a kind.”
