Cleveland Animal Protective League discounting adoptions for Clear the Shelters campaign

Discounts begin Aug. 25.

CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Animal Protective League, with the help of wkyc studios and Hill's Pet Nutrition, has joined the national Clear the Shelters 2020 pet adoption campaign.

In hopes of making this Clear the Shelters event even more successful, from Tuesday Aug. 25 until  Monday, Aug. 31, the Cleveland APL will take an additional $25 off all adoption fees.

Regular adoption fees are $200 for puppies younger than five months, $125 for dogs older than five months, $125 for kittens younger than five months and $50 for cats older than five months.

Due to COVID-19, the Cleveland APL is not allowing in-person visits.

All of the APL adoptable pets can be viewed HERE where adopters can find instructions to adopt and a link to the adoption surveys.

All adoptions are processed virtually, a dog meet and greets and all animal pick-ups are doone with a scheduled appointment and face masks are required for curbside services.

To help adopters and communities to practice safe social distancing, this year's Clear the Shelters campaign has been running the entire month of August with virtual pet adoptions and easy online donation options.

The Cleveland  Animal Protective League is located in Tremont. It relies solely on donations and program fees to investigate and prosecute animal cruelty in Cuyahoga County. The APL has assisted approximately 13,000 homeless animals a year through a variety of programs.

The Clear the Shelters/ Desocupar Los Albergues is an annual nationwide pet adoption campaign that is spearheaded by NBC Universal-owned television stations. Since 2015, 410,000 pets have found new homes through the Clear the Shelters campaign.
