Roxy healing after spay surgery, now one step closer to becoming Wags 4 Warriors service dog

Roxy is doing well after the successful surgery.

BROADVIEW HEIGHTS, Ohio — It was a big day for Roxy, our service dog in training.

She underwent spay surgery Tuesday at Apple Hill Animal Hospital.

It’s a standard procedure, but the care is unique to each dog.

“I know it's a common procedure, but we don't take it lightly either because we have to be really careful with any anesthesia,” Dr. Lydia Rust said. “Just because it's a young, apparently healthy dog doesn't mean we can just step back and relax.”

The total healing time is about 10 to 14 days, which means Roxy will be taking a break from the cameras for a short time.
