CLEVELAND — In advance of National Dog Day coming up on Thursday, pet insurance company Trupanion has released the most popular dog names and the most popular dog breeds for this year.
Trupanion analyzed their database of over 600,000 insured pets and compiled a list of the top 10 names and breeds for 2021. In 2020, the name "Bella" was third but is now No. 1. "Molly" and "Lola" are new to the top 10 name list this year.
National Dog Day honors all breeds and it is indeed the loveable mixed breed that always tops the charts. After that, Labrador Retriever leads the pack for the most popular breed this year as the breed has lead the list for decades!

Monday kicks of "Clear the Shelters," where animal shelters and rescues across the country are once again teaming up with NBC and Telemundo stations to find loving homes for pets in need. Since Clear the Shelters' inception in 2014, over half a million pets have found new homes.
