Walmart announces $94 million in store improvements, including several Northeast Ohio locations

Walmart's ready to upgrade.

On Wednesday, Walmart announced plans to spend about $94 million on store renovations across Ohio.

The brand said in a news release that it currently plans to update 27 Ohio locations, including several across Northeast Ohio.

Stores will implement online grocery pickup, meaning customers can order groceries online and retrieve at the store. Thirty-one Ohio locations already offer the service.

Some stores will also add mobile express scan and go, a service that allows customers to scan items with their phone, pay instantly and leave, meaning they can skip the checkout lines.

Pickup towers, which the brand says are like high-tech vending machines, will allow customers to pick up online orders by scanning a bar code on their phone.

The Northeast Ohio locations planned for remodel are:

• 3551 N Ridge Road E, Ashtabula

• 35901 Chester Road, Avon

• 10000 Brookpark Road, Brooklyn

• 3200 Atlantic Blvd NE, Canton

• 4004 Tuscarawas Street W, Canton

• 3400 Steelyard Drive, Cleveland

• 250 Tallmadge Road, Kent

• 6594 Mayfield Road, Mayfield Heights

• 24801 Brookpark Road, North Olmsted

• 1868 Warrensville Center Road, South Euclid

• 200 Goldie Road, Youngstown

In addition to the in-store upgrades, Walmart also says it plans to roll out online innovations to save customers time and money.
