BUY IT NOW: 60 percent off Zmodo Smart Greet Video Doorbell with free shipping

Let me begin by saying that I love the Ring Doorbell and own one in my smart home. I also love Skybell. If you want the most bang for your buck, however, it's all about Zmodo today - and I was blown away by just how many features you can score for under $60.

I'll explain the benefits of a smart surveillance doorbell and then explain why today's deal offers more features than what you would get with Ring or a competitor.

A smart doorbell allows you to answer your door or greet someone from anywhere in the world while also serving as an outdoor motion sensor alarm. You get alerts delivered to your smartphone when someone walks by or approaches your door. With night vision, you can monitor your property in HD and check in on your doors or entry ways at any time, giving you greater security.

A smart doorbell like Ring or Zmodo's Smart Greet can show you when your kids actually get home from school, which dog may have visited your lawn with the owner who didn't care or even discover a neighborhood package thief (as I did with my video doorbell).

Here's where Zmodo surpasses Ring:

  • Price: the cheapest Ring is $100, while today's doorbell is $60.
  • The Zmodo doorbell has 8GB built in memory to record 30 second clips once motion is detected; Ring only has cloud storage for which you have to pay a monthly fee.
  • Zmodo gives you 12 hours of free motion-based cloud video storage. Ring doesn't provide any free cloud storage.
  • You can pre-record a voice message for your visitors when they press the Zmodo doorbell in the event you're not available. You will always "sound" like you're home. Ring doesn't have this feature.

****Please read installation requirements below!

Requirements to use/install the doorbell:

  • Like the high end Ring Pro and Elite models, the Zmodo Wi-Fi Video doorbell requires an existing hardwired low voltage doorbell system with a mechanical (not electronic) chime to be in place. This is the existing system in the vast majority of houses. Customers looking to install a new doorbell in a house without an existing doorbell in place will need to look elsewhere.
  • To connect the doorbell to your WiFi, you'll need a password-protected 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network with WPA/WPA2 encryption. Again, this is pretty standard these days for routers but if you have a really old 900mhz router or no wi-fi at all, this doorbell will not connect.
  • The doorbell uses a phone/tablet app as its interface so you'll need a device running Android 4.0 and up or iOS 7.0 and up - which is most recent smartphones.
