AAA Public and Legislative Affairs Manager, Jim Garrity says this time of year you tend to see cheaper prices at the pump because retailers are selling winter-blend gas.

“Winter-blend gasoline is cheaper to produce, therefore cheaper to sell so typically this time of year when you see low demand and winter blend gasoline, those are two major factors that keep prices relatively low,” he explains.

Garrity says crude oil prices are going down, and gas supplies are at a healthy level.

According to AAA, “regional gas price averages are cheaper on the week and the month, but as much as 23 cents more expensive year-over-year.”
