Black Friday deals: How to figure out if a sale price is good

There are tools to help you track prices before and after you make a purchase.

INDIANAPOLIS — Black Friday is a day when many of us are skimming sales. But are the prices you're seeing, good?

All that wondering is over because there are tools to help you make that decision.

If you're shopping in person, try the app Shop Savvy. Scan the item’s barcode and it'll show you if there's a better price nearby.

If another store is cheaper, show the store employee and ask if they will price match the deal you found.

As for Amazon, highlight the item's link you're considering and plug it into the website Camel Camel Camel. This site tracks Amazon prices, so you know how low the price has previously gone.

If you're looking elsewhere online, try the browser extension Honey. While it's known for plugging in coupon codes automatically, it also gives you a price history. After you find the product you’re interested in, click the Honey extension, price history, and select 120 days.

Once you buy an item, don’t forget about it said Kyle James with Rather-Be-Shopping.

”You can actually set a price tracker and you can kind of automatically see if the price goes cheaper, and you can get an email if it does go cheaper at specific stores. So that's kind of a great way to automate this,” James said

Both Honey and Google Shopping offer this feature.

Price tracking is important to consider because James said stores including Target, Lowes, and Dicks Sporting Goods will price match in some capacity.

Just keep the receipt.
