Health food brand RXBAR has issued a voluntary recall of several of its protein bars due to a potential undeclared peanut allergen.
The brand says it identified the potential for peanuts in its Chocolate Sea Salt and Coconut Chocolate bars, but expanded the recall to several more products in an abundance of caution after customers complained of suffering allergic reactions to other varieties.
The affected bars have "best by" dates ranging from Jan. 14, 2019 to Oct. 19, 2019. Bars could have been sold individually or in packs. Those flavors include:
- RXBAR: Apple Cinnamon, Blueberry, Chocolate Chip, Chocolate Hazelnut, Chocolate Sea Salt, Coconut Chocolate, Coffee Chocolate, Mango Pineapple, Maple Sea Salt, Mint Chocolate, Mixed Berry, Pumpkin Spice
- RXBAR Kids: Apple Cinnamon Raisin, Berry Blast, Chocolate Chip
RXBAR says the issue came from a specific ingredient supplied by a third party. RXBAR says it has now changed suppliers.
The impacted products are safe for those without peanut allergies, according to the company.
Those with peanut allergies who have purchased the affected products should throw them away and call RXBAR at 1-312-624-8200 for a refund.
