Family requests birthday cards for Norton teen Emma Pfouts as hospital recovery continues

Happy birthday, Emma!

NORTON, Ohio — Emma Pfouts turns 17 years old today (Feb. 19), and her family is hoping you can help make this one extra special.

Emma, who spent weeks in a medically induced coma, remains in recovery at the hospital months after collapsing at the Norton High School homecoming dance last October.

Now, with her birthday this week, Emma's family is asking the community to send cards her way.

Cards can be mailed to:

Akron Children’s Hospital

Transitional Care – Attn: Emma Pfouts

214 West Bowery Street

Akron, OH  44308

You can also send an eCard -- which will be printed and delivered to Emma at the hospital -- by clicking here.

Her family told 3News' Andrew Horansky that Emma received between 300-400 cards for Valentine's Day last week as she continues making progress.

“The first time she said, ‘I’m fine, let’s go home,’’ her mother, Christina Weigand said, adding that Emma’s personality keeps coming through.
