'Hometown heroes' honored at Cleveland FBI event

WKYC's Monica Robins and Andrew Horansky are graduates of the FBI citizens academy.

Friday night, it was all about the hometown heroes!

The FBI Cleveland Citizens Academy honored people for being good to their communities. People were recognized in four categories, including:

  • Community Leader - Kurt Karakul, President and Executive Director of Third Federal Foundation
  • Safety Forces - Officer Andrew March, Independence Police Department
  • Unsung - Sheila D. Halton, Founder of V.O.I.D.
  • Citizen - Greg Hampton and Donald Hughes, Ohio City Ambassadors & Downtown Cleveland Alliance

In addition, the keynote speaker was former New York Firefighter Tim Brown, who survived the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

All proceeds benefit the FBI Cleveland Citizens Academy Alumni Association. WKYC's Monica Robins and Andrew Horansky are graduates of the FBI citizens academy.
