Friday night, it was all about the hometown heroes!
The FBI Cleveland Citizens Academy honored people for being good to their communities. People were recognized in four categories, including:
- Community Leader - Kurt Karakul, President and Executive Director of Third Federal Foundation
- Safety Forces - Officer Andrew March, Independence Police Department
- Unsung - Sheila D. Halton, Founder of V.O.I.D.
- Citizen - Greg Hampton and Donald Hughes, Ohio City Ambassadors & Downtown Cleveland Alliance
In addition, the keynote speaker was former New York Firefighter Tim Brown, who survived the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
All proceeds benefit the FBI Cleveland Citizens Academy Alumni Association. WKYC's Monica Robins and Andrew Horansky are graduates of the FBI citizens academy.
