CLEVELAND — On Thursday, Members of the U.S. Marshals Service, Northern Ohio violent Fugitive Task Force announced the arrest of D’Lawrence Scott, 19, and Lawrence Scott Jr., 56.
D’Lawrence Scott was wanted for the aggravated murder of a 15-year-old male after an altercation near the 1000 block of Biruta Street in Akron on May 24.
The task force detailed the incident below:
It is alleged that on May 24, D’Lawrence Scott got into a verbal altercation with a female associate at an address near the 1000 block of Biruta Street in Akron. The altercation turned physical, and a 15-year-old male stepped in at the defense of the female. D’Lawrence Scott retreated to a car parked outside the residence and retrieved a firearm. Scott then proceeded back to the residence and shot and killed the 15-year-old male. D’Lawrence Scotts’ father, Lawrence Scott Jr. was allegedly the get-away driver after the homicide occurred.
The 15-year-old was later identified by the Summit County Medical Examiner as Jerry Davis. The cause of death was a gunshot wound to the torso
Lawrence Scott Jr. was arrested on obstruction of justice charges in connection with the homicide.
On Thursday, task force members witnessed both Scotts leaving a residence on East 147th Street in Cleveland. Marshals followed the father and son to the East 79th and Kinsman Road area, where they were both arrested.
U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott stated, “The US Marshals Service has a strong partnership with the Akron Police Department. Today, that strong partnership resulted in the arrest of two dangerous fugitives and hopefully some justice for the 15-year-old victim.”
