Shooting in West Akron leaves 22-year-old dead in West Akron

Detectives are working to determine what role a previous altercation played in the shooting.

AKRON, Ohio — The Akron Police Department is currently investigating a fatal shooting that took place around 11:20 a.m. in the 1100 block of Peerless Avenue in West Akron.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found a 22-year-old man in the front yard of a residence with multiple gunshot wounds. 

The victim was transported to the Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The identity of the victim is currently being withheld pending identification and family notification.

According to the Akron Police Department, early investigation of the incident revealed an altercation less than an hour before the shooting. Detectives are currently working to determine how the altercation played a role in the incident.

There have been no arrests made as of the publishing of this story and the incident remains under investigation.
