34-year-old woman found dead inside vehicle in Cleveland with gunshot wound

Authorities believe the victim was shot by the father of her 7-year-old daughter. The child was allegedly taken from the scene but later found in Elyria.

CLEVELAND — An investigation is underway after a 34-year-old woman was found dead Wednesday morning inside a vehicle in Cleveland.

The Cleveland Division of Police tells 3News that the victim was found with a gunshot wound to the head inside of a vehicle within the 16200 block of Huntmere Avenue in Collinwood. The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office has since identified the victim as city resident Jovon Lynch.

On Friday, authorities revealed Lynch's 7-year-old daughter had been reported missing, and that the child's 35-year-old father allegedly shot Lynch before leaving with the young girl. The daughter was later found safe at a gas station in Elyria, but the suspect remains at large.

Police say the matter remains under investigation. The accused killer's identity has not yet been released.

EDITOR'S NOTE: 3News previously reported that the victim was 25 years old based on information from Cleveland Police. This information has been corrected.
