3 high-profile murder cases, including the double homicide in the Metroparks, remain unsolved in 2019

Police still asking for the public’s help.

CLEVELAND — Three Northeast Ohio murders in 2019 captured a lot off attention, in part for their lack of motive or obvious suspects.

Thirty-three-year-old Kate Brown and 40-year-old Carnell Sledge were shot to death on a June afternoon, sitting together on a Metroparks bench in Fairview Park.

Fifty-eight-year-old Sheila Wallace was shot on a January evening while walking her dog in a park on the city’s West Side.

Sixty-five-year-old Tim Meola, a popular Ashtabula caterer, was found murdered in his Painesville home on a September morning.

All three cases remain unsolved.

3News recently asked those investigating the murders for updates. They all said they are still following leads and looking for more help from the public.

We also checked in with the families. They either declined to talk or didn’t respond. Kate Brown’s father told 3News in a text message he appreciates efforts to keep people talking about the case.

In October, the FBI increased the available reward to a total of $30,000 for information that leads to an arrest of those involved in the murder of Brown and Sledge. Anyone with information can make an anonymous call to the Crime Stoppers tip line at 216-252-7463. The FBI tip line is 216-622-6842.

Anyone with information on the murder of Meola can reach the Painesville Police Department at 440-392-5840.

Crime Stoppers is offering $5,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest of those involved in the murder of Wallace. People with information should call 216-252-7463 or 216-623-5464.
