CAPTURED | Bowling Green police arrest two inmates who escaped from Northwest Community Corrections Center

The two escapees have been identified as 36-year-old Justin Firman and 24-year-old Dakota Embry. Embry was found unresponsive in his jail cell and died Friday.

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio — UPDATE: Bowling Green police announced in a Facebook post Friday afternoon that Embry and Firman have both been captured.

In a media release Saturday, the Wood County Sheriff's Office said that Embry was found unresponsive in his jail cell and declared dead around 10:34 p.m. Friday.

According to authorities, at approximately 12:30 p.m., police apprehended Firman and Embry on Turley Road in Fostoria, Ohio, on Friday. Crews located the two in a camper using information gathered by questioning others at the correctional facility who may have been involved in the escape plan, police claimed. 

Both men were charged with escape and transported to the Wood County Justice Center in Bowling Green. Police also said 30-year-old Emma Bulser of Deshler, Ohio was charged with felony obstructing justice.

The Bowling Green Police Division is searching for two incarcerated people who escaped from the Northwest Community Corrections Center late Thursday evening.

According to officials, the Wood County Sheriff's Office was called to the Corrections Center just after 8:30 p.m. Thursday evening, in response to the alert.

Authorities identified 36-year-old Justin Firman and 24-year-old Dakota Embry as the escapees.

Firman was sentenced in Wood County Common Pleas Court in January to complete a program at Northwest Community Corrections Center.  He was originally charged with abduction and domestic violence in February of 2022. He pleaded guilty to reduced charges of attempted abduction and domestic violence in October of 2022.

Embry is from Napoleon. He was charged in Henry County Common Pleas Court in 2022 on a felony charge of possession of fentanyl-related compound.  He entered a guilty plea in December, and was sentenced in December to complete a program at Northwest Community Corrections Center.

As of now, BGPD officers who spoke with WTOL have received reports of sightings of Embry and Firman outside of the city. The officers also said they are using drones and patrol vehicles to search area rest stops and the land around the Corrections Center.
