SANDUSKY, Ohio — Sandusky police are investigating following a break-in at a repair shop that left multiple dogs dead and several items stolen.

The owner of Curtis Minor Repair on Camp Street told officers he entered the business on the morning of June 4 and noticed someone had gotten into the building through a broken garage door. Once inside the office, the man said his two pit bulls were lying in a pool of their own blood.

Once investigators arrived on scene, the owner and a friend who had been keeping his pickup truck there told them the vehicle had been stolen, along with four tire rims and a box spring/mattress combo. The truck and the rest of the items were later found in a field just south of Mason Road, although the keys (which had been left inside) were gone.

No information on possible suspects is available at this time, with a nearby resident only saying the pickup had been abandoned in the grass some time between 6 and 6:30 a.m. Authorities did process both the vehicle and the crime scene for DNA evidence and also found three .22 caliber shell casings and a hacksaw blade inside the shop, which could've been used to harm the animals.
