CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Division of Police is investigating a shooting that left one man dead after he threatened a group of others and opened fire.

The incident happened just before 7:15 p.m. on Monday in the area of E. 109th Street and Dove Avenue. Officers were called to the scene for a report of a man shot. Police discovered a 19-year-old man shot in the neck and began to administer first aid. He was taken by EMS to University Hospitals, where he was pronounced dead.

In the course of its investigation, Cleveland police discovered that the 19-year-old man who was killed had gotten into a verbal argument with two other men at a home in the 10900 block of Dove Avenue. Following the argument, the 19-year-old man left the area, but threatened to return.

When he came back to the scene, the 19-year-old man encountered three people in the driveway and began shooting at them. Two of the people were armed and returned fire, hitting the 19-year-old in the neck.

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the 19-year-old who was fatally shot as Andre T. Lawrence of Cleveland.
